The Next Generation of Cooling Refrigerants.

Refrigerants are liquids stored in your air conditioner’s coils that cool and dehumidify indoor air. If there weren’t refrigerants, there wouldn’t be air conditioning. Over the years, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce due to its destructive impact to the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo decrease environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now engineered to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and contains no chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel great about using this refrigerant in Hamilton because it’ll help make your cooling system work efficiently, reliably and quietly, and deliver the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was made before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You might investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is ultimately phased out. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to operate your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Carefree Heating and Cooling, LLC work with R-410A, so you know we have an AC or heat pump more suited to your needs. You should also refrain from using”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
